Great Elm is a small popular village with a duck pond in the valley, church and the Jackdaws renowned music Education Trust (dedicated to improving participation in and enjoyment of music through weekend courses, Education projects, a Young Artists Programme and performances by world class musicians). The village is a few miles from the market town of Frome which offers a wide range of amenities including a cinema, sports centre, railway station, supermarkets and thriving farmers’ market/antiques market held on the first Sunday, most months of the year. The village of Mells is also nearby, a quintessentially English village with thriving post office and shop, a highly sought-after primary school and day nursery, and an excellent inn, ‘The Talbot’. With its tithe barn, 15th Century church and annual Daffodil Festival, Mells has been well patronised over the years by the Mells Estate. The popular spa hotel, Babington House is within 4 miles and the cathedral City of Wells is within 15 miles, whilst Georgian Bath and Bristol are with 15 and 22 miles respectively. Trains for London Paddington take approximately 90 minutes from Bath Spa Station. Services to London Waterloo leave from both Westbury (9.2 miles), Frome (3.1 miles) and Warminster which is 10 miles to the east. (all distances approximate).
