One of the attributes that makes living in and around Bath so special is the sense of community spirit that surrounds the city. As the longest-established independent estate agents in Bath, we take great pride in the fact that we are a part of this community, and we like to do what we can to give a little something back.
Recently, we were proud to be one of the co-sponsors of the Freshford Primary School racing team and their Greenpower Goblin Go Karts, supporting them on their journey to the podium at Goodwood Motor Circuit.
The Gathering of Goblins was a celebration of the IET Formula Goblin Season, where teams from far and wide came together to compete against each other at the biggest event in the Formula Goblin calendar. As well as welcoming teams from all over the country, competitors from as far afield as China and Spain gave the event an international flavour this year, with over 700 students across 84 teams taking part.
Greenpower’s vision inspires young participants to take a greater and more proactive interest in engineering, while emphasising the importance of sustainability for the good of the planet.
Working with a range of age groups, from ages nine up to 25, the Greenpower Education Trust challenge is to design, build and race an electric car, harnessing the excitement and buzz of the motorsport track to inspire young people to participate in and excel at Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). It’s not hard to see why the Greenpower Goblin challenge caught our eye!
Freshford Primary School – the future generation
As part of their fundraising efforts, the children of Freshford Primary School held a homemade lemonade sale to local ramblers and wrote to local companies for sponsorship. Luckily enough, Pritchards was one of the businesses they reached out to – receiving a beautifully written letter from the children themselves in the post was a lovely touch.
Their efforts were certainly not to be sniffed at – the children managed to raise £5,392 altogether, allowing for the purchase of two brand new G2 Goblin kits, CAD software and a vinyl cutter to enhance general CAD/CAM teaching in the school (as well as cutting vinyl designs to decorate the Goblins, of course).
We were delighted to hear that the hard-working children of Team Freshford enjoyed the event immensely, had a wonderful day in the sunshine, and finished in fourth place overall, out of 84 teams – with a second-place podium position for their portfolio.
Team Pritchards is proud to be one of their co-sponsor and to have played a part in their success.
