However busy we are, Pritchards always makes time to get involved in the local community. After all, we are the longest-established independent estate agents in Bath, and we take great pride in our beautiful city. As such, we have recently been busy organising our sponsorship of both the Prince’s Trust Art Auction on Thursday October 8th and finalising our three-year contract with the Walcot Youth Rugby Club, which begins in September. The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art
The third annual fine art auction will take place in the historic and elegant Assembly Rooms in the heart of Bath, in a bid to raise money to support disadvantaged young people across the South West.
Attendees can expect an evening of exceptional fine art from more than 40 well-known and contemporary artists, all of whom have kindly donated their work to help raise crucial funds for The Prince’s Trust. We at Pritchards are honoured to be part of such a special event that is raising both money and awareness for a great cause.
Katherine Morgan, Events Manager for The Prince’s Trust commented: “We are delighted that this year’s Prince’s Trust Evening of Art Auction is sponsored by Pritchards, Reside, Withy King and Coutts. The support from our sponsors means that all money raised on the evening will go directly to supporting young disadvantaged people aged 13-30 in the South West to get into education, training and ultimately employment.”
Television star Paul Martin – famous for presenting programmes such as Flog It! – will be the host and auctioneer for the night. As well as the auction, guests will be presented with a drinks and canapé reception followed by a delicious three-course dinner and light entertainment.
Artists seem to be signing up to the event by the day, but some of the most famous names include Sir Quentin Blake, Ken Howard OBE RA, Lady Deirdre Dyson and Susan Derges. Tickets are £150 per person, and this includes the drinks and nibbles on arrival, three-course meal and half a bottle of wine. It is shaping up to be a wonderful night, so we highly recommend booking your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Walcot Youth Rugby Club
Simultaneously, we are working with the Walcot Youth Rugby Team; as of September 2015, we are now their official sponsors for the next three seasons. We are excited and proud to see the Pritchards logo now featured on the Junior teams’ rugby training balls and rugby shirts.
The partnership came about when our Head of Residential Sales, Jon Baker, took his son to rugby training last season and got talking to Dave Parsons, one of the two Youth Chairs at Walcot Youth Rugby. Pritchards is Bath’s longest-established estate agents and, founded in 1882, Walcot RFC is one of the city’s oldest rugby clubs – so the sponsorship seemed to fit well.
Pritchards were also taken with Walcot Rugby’s positive approach to the sport; they have a passion for inclusive development rugby and, as such, were asked to take part in a pilot of the RFU pilot Kids First rugby programme. The aim of this initiative is to provide an enjoyable, inclusive rugby environment by focusing on player development and instilling a sense of self-confidence. This approach has helped them attract and retain new players, and the club has seen strong growth in youth player numbers over the past two seasons because of this attitude. Pritchards recognised this, and we were keen to get involved with something that was making a positive difference towards the local community.
The club is constantly improving and evolving: they have invested over a quarter of a million pounds into its facilities over the past four years which has gone towards improving their changing rooms and club house and installing state-of-the-art floodlights around the pitch.
In the past three seasons, Walcot has seen one player be selected for Leicester Tigers U18 Academy, one represent England U16 and one represent England U18. They currently have four players in Bath Academy and one in Bristol Academy.
Of course, Walcot’s most famous old boy is Jerry Guscott, who started playing in the youth section, before moving to Bath to play senior rugby.
Asked about the new sponsorship, Dave Parsons commented: “Walcot are really pleased to have their youth section be sponsored by Pritchards”. He added: “It is a testament to our growth as a club, and our approach to providing rugby for the local community, that we are able to attract a company of their standing to support us.”
