Widcombe is celebrating the end of a period of extensive roadworks and the beginning of a new and exciting era by organising an almighty street party. We cannot think of a better way to embrace the new traffic scheme and here at Pritchards/Pritchards Apartments we are delighted to announce that we are one of the proud sponsors of the Widcombe Street Party! Taking place on Sunday 7th June from midday until 7.30pm, we will certainly be there … will you?
Established in 1785, Pritchards is the longest-standing estate agents in Bath, and has been under its current ownership since 1996. We have played a prominent part within the local property scene for 230 years, specialising in prime residential property and in the last 12 months establishing a new division, Pritchards Apartments. We thoroughly enjoy being given the opportunity to support the local community in whatever way we can. As a local independent business we like to support fellow local businesses and events such as this.
Widcombe is an area of Bath that we hold close to our hearts. It is a hugely popular location due to its friendly, village-like community and its very close proximity to Bath Spa train station, as well as the city centre. We have helped many clients buy and sell property in the area. Under the new scheme, traffic will be diverted away from Widcombe Parade, meaning that the quieter, less polluted, pedestrian-friendly High Street and café culture will further add to its appeal.
Sunday 7th June promises to be a jam-packed event, with Widcombe Parade closing for the day and gazebos, tables and chairs being set up along the length of the street; of course, decorated by the obligatory street party bunting and banners.
The family-friendly event will also feature plenty of live music, in the form of top local talent. The big Bath bands include Big Ten Inch, Bill Smarme, Bare Knuckle Parade, The Bohemian Embassy and Bite the Buffalo, offering an eclectic range of music to satisfy all tastes. There will also be performances from schools, local choirs and groups, as well as buskers and street theatre from the Natural Theatre Company.
Kids will be in their element too, with children’s party experts ‘Kidzfun’ ensuring little ones of all ages are kept amused. There will also be street games for the whole family, raffles and competitions.
If you’re feeling peckish, the local pubs, restaurants and cafés will be open for business as usual and if you fancy some al fresco dining, local traders are setting up food stalls in front of their premises.
Fun, food and frolics are all guaranteed at the Widcombe Street Party. All we need now is a little sunshine. Put the date in your diary!
